Pedro Baptista
Pássaro de Fogo é um espectáculo-performance que pode ser descrito como um ‘retrato do artista’ sob a batuta da obra musical homónima de Igor Stravinsky.
Após ter dançado a composição de Stravinsky com 8 anos na sala-de-estar da sua casa de infância, aos 32 anos Pedro Baptista pretende resgatar essa mesma obra, assim como a figura mitológica do “pássaro que arde”, para continuar um diálogo sobre as suas urgências e questões (tanto identitárias/pessoais quanto artísticas, tanto individuais como profundamente coletivas) e reflectir sobre legados, transformações e o ciclo de vida-morte-renascimento.
Bio
Pedro Baptista completou o Mestrado em Teatro na ESTC.
Em teatro, trabalhou com: Mário Coelho, Pedro Penim, Jorge Silva Melo, Pedro Carraca, Alice Azevedo, Marcial di Fonzo Bo, Patrícia Moreira, etc.
Enquanto encenador e dramaturgo, destaca as suas criações: “Oração” (2022); “Anima” (2022); “Oração do veado sereio” (2021); “Prosopopeia” (2018).
Em 2025, estreou a sua primeira curta-metragem enquanto realizador – “Êxtase” – e o espectáculo “Auto das Anfitriãs” em co-criação com Inês Vaz (produção TNDMII).

The Firebird is a performance-show that can be described as a ‘portrait of the artist’, taking the baton from the homonymous musical piece by Igor Stravinsky.
After dancing Stravinsky´s composition at 8 years old in his childhood home´s living room, now at 33 years old, Pedro Baptista seeks to revive that same piece, as well as the mythical figure of the “burning bird”, in order to continue a dialogue with his urges and questions, both identity/personal as well as artistic, and both individual as well as profoundly collective. While always navigating between autobiography and the artistic dilemma of “how to stage Stravinsky´s piece”, Pedro Baptista challenges himself to think of legacies, and the cycle of life-death-rebirth, with a solo that can be an abstract dance; an open movement.
Pedro Baptista completed his MA in Theatre at ESTC. He has worked with: Mário Coelho, Pedro Penim, Jorge Silva Melo, Pedro Carraca, Alice Azevedo, Marcial di Fonzo Bo and Patrícia Moreira, etc. As Director and Playwright, his highlights include: “Oração” (2022); “Anima” (2022); “Oração do veado sereio” (2021) and “Prosopopeia” (2018). In 2025, as Director, he premiered – “Êxtase” – and the show “Auto das Anfitriãs”, co-created with Inês Vaz (produced by TNDMII).
