FORECASTING parte de uma coleção de vídeos amadores recolhidos no Youtube.
A performance utiliza este material para desencadear uma ficção, que nasce do encontro do mundo virtual com a experiência real. No palco, uma performer manipula um computador portátil no ecrã do qual são mostrados vídeos selecionados de forma a ir ao encontro da escala humana. Deste simples ato surge um conjunto de deslocamentos espaciais e temporais. O ecrã transforma-se no lugar de interseção do corpo do performer com o mundo bidimensional das imagens que representam outras pessoas, outros lugares. O resultado é uma experiência híbrida vertiginosa, uma zona indeterminada informada pela própria natureza dos vídeos, que vai da banalidade dos movimentos, dos objetos e das situações quotidianas, à possibilidade da sua transformação em novas ferramentas narrativas.

“FORECASTING”

FORECASTING is based on a collection of amateur videos taken from the world’s largest video-sharing website: YouTube.
The performance uses this framework as a fiction trigger, that is born from the encounter of the virtual world with the real experience. On stage, a performer manipulates a laptop on the screen of which are shown YouTube videos that had been selected to meet the human size scale. From this simple criterion arises a set of spatial and temporal displacements. The screen becomes the site of intersection between the performer’s body and the two-dimensional world of images that represent other people in other places. The result is a dizzying hybrid experience, a zone of indeterminacy informed by the very nature of the videos ranging from the banality of everyday situations, movements and objects to the possibility of their transformation into new ways of narration.
