O vídeo mostra uma paisagem marítima no coração da natureza gelada de Svalbard. Bandos de aves sobrevoam em voo rasante um horizonte cinzento-azulado, como hieróglifos fugazes que atravessam o ecrã. Pela direita, surge um homem de fato, transportado por um bloco de gelo, que golpeia furiosamente a superfície com um malho, lançando neve a cada pancada. Quanto tempo passará até que o gelo ceda e o homem desapareça nas ondas? No entanto, o bloco continua à deriva, deslizando para fora do enquadramento pela esquerda, apenas para que a figura com o martelo volte a aparecer pela direita.
Guy Ben-Ner – Stealing Beauty (IRS, 2007/08, 18:01)
Filmado em lojas IKEA, Stealing Beauty transporta a vida familiar para o interior de um espaço comercial. Guy Ben-Ner transforma os cenários domésticos pré-fabricados em palco de uma ficção crítica sobre consumo, propriedade, educação e convenções sociais.
William Kentrige – Soho Eckstein (ZA, 1994, 8:46)
Iniciada em 1989, Drawings for Projection afirmou William Kentridge através de animações em carvão ligadas ao contexto do fim do apartheid, embora não concebidas como crónica histórica. Situada em Joanesburgo, a série contrapõe o industrial Soho Eckstein ao poeta Felix Teitlebaum, figuras opostas que gradualmente se aproximam até refletirem o próprio artista. Mais do que narrativa política, trata-se de uma exploração subjetiva da identidade, da memória e da contradição.
Yuan Goang-Ming – Everyday War (TW, 2024/25) 10:33
Em Everyday War, Yuan Goang-Ming introduz a ameaça da violência no espaço da vida quotidiana. A obra constrói uma atmosfera suspensa, onde a casa e os gestos comuns deixam de ser lugares de segurança para se converterem em cenários atravessados pela instabilidade política e emocional.
Ilaria Di Carlo – Polyphem (IT, 2025, 10:00)
Polyphem reinterpreta o mito de Polifemo a partir de uma paisagem marcada pela extração e pelo resíduo industrial. A obra aproxima mito, ecologia e antropoceno para propor uma leitura visual da ferida ambiental e da presença humana inscrita no território.
Eugenio Ampudia – Concierto para el Bioceno (ES, 2020, 7:50)
Realizada no Gran Teatre del Liceu de Barcelona, a ação coloca as plantas no lugar do público, imaginando uma mudança simbólica de paradigma. A obra propõe uma escuta deslocada, onde a vida vegetal deixa de ser cenário para tornar-se interlocutora.
Luis Úrculo – Ensayo Sobre la Ruina (ES, 2013,
Em Ensayo Sobre la Ruina, Luis Úrculo trabalha a arquitetura como vestígio, hipótese e instabilidade. A ruína não aparece apenas como resto do passado, mas como matéria ativa a partir da qual imaginar outros tempos, outras formas e outros modos de habitar.
Raida Adon – Woman without a Home (PAL, 2013,
Em Woman without a Home, Raida Adon constrói uma meditação visual sobre identidade, deslocamento e pertença. A obra interroga o que significa ter ou não ter um lar quando a biografia pessoal se cruza com fronteiras, conflitos e estruturas de poder.

The video shows a seascape deep in the frozen wilderness of Svalbard. Flocks of birds sweep low across a grey-blue horizon, like fleeting hieroglyphs across the screen. From the right, a man in a suit drifts into view, carried on an ice floe, hammering furiously at the ice with a sledgehammer, snow flying with each blow. How long before the ice gives way and the man disappears into the waves? But the floe keeps drifting, sliding out of frame to the left — only for the hammer-wielding figure to reappear again from the right.
Guy Ben-Ner – Stealing Beauty (IRS, 2007/08, 18:01)
Filmed in IKEA stores, Stealing Beauty brings family life into a commercial space. Guy Ben-Ner turns prefabricated domestic settings into the stage for a critical fiction about consumption, property, education and social conventions.
William Kentrige – Soho Eckstein (ZA, 1994, 8:46)
Begun in 1989, Drawings for Projection established William Kentridge through handcrafted charcoal animations shaped by the end of apartheid, though not intended as a historical account. Set in Johannesburg, the series contrasts the industrialist Soho Eckstein with the poet Felix Teitlebaum, opposing figures who gradually merge and come to mirror the artist himself. Rather than political narrative, it is a subjective exploration of identity, memory and contradiction.
Yuan Goang-Ming – Everyday War (TW, 2024/25) 10:33
In Everyday War, Yuan Goang-Ming brings the threat of violence into the space of everyday life. The work constructs a suspended atmosphere in which the home and ordinary gestures cease to be places of safety and become settings crossed by political and emotional instability.
Ilaria Di Carlo – Polyphem (IT, 2025, 10:00)
Polyphem reinterprets the myth of Polyphemus through a landscape marked by extraction and industrial residue. The work brings together myth, ecology and the Anthropocene to propose a visual reading of environmental wound and human presence inscribed in the territory.
Eugenio Ampudia – Concierto para el Bioceno (ES, 2020, 7:50)
Presented at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, the action places plants in the position of the audience, imagining a symbolic shift of paradigm. The work proposes a displaced form of listening, in which plant life ceases to be background and becomes an interlocutor.
Luis Úrculo – Ensayo Sobre la Ruina (ES, 2013,
In Essay on Decline, Luis Úrculo approaches architecture as trace, hypothesis and instability. Ruin does not appear merely as a remnant of the past, but as active matter from which to imagine other times, other forms and other ways of inhabiting.
Raida Adon – Woman without a Home (PAL, 2013,
In Woman without a Home, Raida Adon constructs a visual meditation on identity, displacement and belonging. The work questions what it means to have, or not to have, a home when personal biography intersects with borders, conflicts and structures of power.
