Neste seu regresso a Portugal faz-se acompanhar do Bang on a Can All Stars. O agrupamento nova-iorquino integra um dos mais interessantes projetos da atualidade vocacionados para a promoção da nova música. Distingue-se pela sua postura eclética, demonstrando competências tão diversas como as de uma banda Rock ou de um ensemble de música de câmara. Interpretam agora obras de Reich tão célebre como Clapping Music ou Music for Pieces of Wood.
Steve Reich, nascido em Nova Iorque em 1936, é um dos maiores compositores da atualidade e um dos mais influentes dos últimos trinta anos. Nome incontornável da música erudita, é sobretudo reconhecido como figura de proa da corrente minimalista, embora seja também aclamado e tenha influenciado muitas outras áreas musicais. Em 2009, foi-lhe atribuído o Pulitzer Prize de música pela sua obra Double Sextet. No CCB, Steve Reich apresenta-se com o grupo Bang on a Can All-Stars, descrito pelo New York Times como “um grupo agressivo, que combina o poder e a força de uma banda de rock com a precisão e a clareza de um ensemble de câmara”. Juntos vão interpretar obras emblemáticas como Clapping Music ou Music for Pieces of Wood.

Steve Reich is a major name in contemporary music and the ultimate exponent of musical minimalism.
On his return to Portugal he is accompanied by Bang on a Can All Stars. The New York group is part of one of the most interesting projects of our time dedicated to the promotion of new music. Distinguished by its eclectic posture, demonstrating competences as diverse as those of a Rock band or a chamber music ensemble. They now play the famous Reich’s works, as famous as Clapping Music or Music for Pieces of Wood.
Steve Reich, born in New York in 1936, is one of today’s greatest songwriters and one of the most influential composers of the last thirty years. An inescapable name for classical music, it is mainly recognized as the leading figure of the minimalist current, although it is also acclaimed and has influenced many other musical areas. In 2009, he was awarded with the Pulitzer Prize of music for his work Double Sextet. At the CCB, Steve Reich performs with the group Bang on a Can All-Stars, described by the New York Times as “an aggressive group that combines the power and strength of a rock band with the precision and clarity of a chamber ensemble.” Together they will perform iconic works such as Clapping Music or Music for Pieces of Wood.
