“(…) Os episódios mais violentos tinham início com deslocamentos do espaço que depois se transformavam em rotações da direita para a esquerda. Descobri que se inclinasse a cabeça de determinada maneira as rotações voltavam. Assim que voltava à posição normal diminuíam. Sons intensos e lugares agitados eram extremamente incómodos e tendencialmente agravavam os ataques. (…) Depois continuas a furar e entramos na casa. Separamos os homens das mulheres. Verificamos a identidade dos homens e seguimos para a próxima casa. Damos doces às crianças e se estiverem com fome ainda oferecemos latas de atum. Levávamos doces junto com o nosso equipamento. (…) Se ele está nervoso e uma porta demora mais de trinta segundos a abrir, teremos de a fazer explodir. (…) A minha perspetiva disso é como se vivesse com uma bomba relógio que tem um cronómetro que gera um padrão numérico aleatório, nunca se sabe quando irá explodir. (…) Se não fossem muito fortes conseguia andar até à fonte para tomar o comprimido. Andar era difícil e eu utilizava a parede para me equilibrar. Nestas alturas a cada passo que dava não tinha a certeza onde estava o chão. Parecia-me sempre um pouco mais longe do que estava na realidade. (…) A primeira sessão foi muito divertida. Senti-me a levitar, a dois ou três metros da cama. As visões transformaram-se rapidamente numa chuva de padrões luminosos. Azul e verde elétrico. Perguntei: “Estão cá outra vez?” Não obtive resposta.“
Autor desconhecido
De uma série de fragmentos de texto encontrados num manuscrito e duas curtas-metragens, aparentemente escritos e gravados pela mesma pessoa, decidimos apresentar um tributo a alguém com uma identidade desconhecida, mas que descreveu um grupo de experiências singulares, algumas delas com origem patológica. Os textos parecem ser autobiográficos e os filmes revelam um olhar particular sobre o que acreditamos ser o lugar onde essa pessoa viveu e trabalhou.
Embora seja impossível descobrir a identidade do autor, passamos a especular sobre esse “caráter extraordinário”, sempre tentando ser fiéis à natureza dos seus textos, dos seus poucos desenhos e filmes. Para esse propósito, convidamos um psicólogo e um médico que nos ajudaram a procurar e interpretar esses objetos. O esforço para articular as fontes existentes foi extremamente importante para descobrir um mundo estranho onde a imaginação e a realidade têm um papel quotidiano aprisionando essa “personagem” num complexo labirinto.

“(…) The most severe episodes had their beginning with space displacements, which turned into rotations from the left to the right. I found out that if I tilted my head in a certain way they would come back. As soon as I returned to a normal position they decreased. Intense sounds and hectic places were extremely uncomfortable and tended to aggravate the attacks. (…) Then you continue to drill and we enter the house. We separate men from women. We checked the identity of the men and headed for the next house. We give candy to the children and if they are hungry we still offer tuna cans. We brought candy along with our equipment. (…) If he is nervous and a door takes more than thirty seconds to open, we will have to blow it up. (…) My perspective on this is like living with a time bomb that has a stopwatch which generates a random number pattern, you never know when it’s going to explode. (…) If they were not too strong, I could walk to the fountain to take the pill. Walking was difficult and I used the wall to balance myself. At this point, I was not sure where the ground was in every step I took. It always seemed to me a little further than it really was. (…) The first session was a lot of fun. I felt myself levitating, two or three meters from the bed. The visions quickly turned into a shower of luminous patterns. Blue and electric green. I asked, “Are they here again?” I didn’t get an answer.”
Text fragments from an anonymous author
From a series of text fragments found on a manuscript and two short films, apparently written and shot by the same person, we decided to present a tribute to someone with an unknown identity, but who thoroughly described a group of singular experiences, some of them with pathological origin. The texts seem to be autobiographical and the films reveal a particular look on what we believe to be the place where this person lived and worked.
Although it is impossible to find out the author’s identity we moved on speculating about this “extraordinary character”, always trying to be faithful to the nature of its texts, its very few drawings and films. For that purpose, we invited a psychologist and a physician who helped us observing and interpreting these objects. The effort to articulate the existing sources was extremely important to discover a strange world where imagination and reality have a daily role imprisoning this “character” in a complex labyrinth.
