“A KIND OF BLUE”

Há sensivelmente vinte anos (1993), Krzysztof Kieslowski e Derek Jarman realizavam dois filmes com o mesmo título: Blue. Ambos nos remetem para um universo que tem início na cor, mas que segue infinitamente para além dela. E que, inclusivamente, se liga de modo intenso com a música, que, por conseguinte, assume uma tónica determinante nos filmes em questão.
Krzysztof Kieslowski constrói um filme narrativo, contrariamente a Derek Jarman, que nos convida a entrar por uma hipnótica sucessão de quadros de texto e azul saturado. Curiosamente, Blue – no caso de Kieslowski, a par da trilogia Blanc e Rouge, ambos de 1994 – foram os derradeiros filmes dos realizadores. Talvez aqui resida algo de confessional, dorido, inquieto e feliz, ao mesmo tempo. Num estado de condensação incómoda e bela. Esta instalação encontrou um ponto de partida neste universo, situado entre o visível e o invisível, reinventando-o: A Kind of Blue.

About twenty years ago (1993), Krzysztof Kieslowski and Derek Jarman directed two films with the same title: Blue. Both lead us to a universe that begins with colour, but which goes infinitely beyond it. And, it even binds intensely to the music, which, therefore, is of crucial emphasis on the films in question.
Krzysztof Kieslowski builds a narrative film, unlike Derek Jarman, who invites us to enter through a hypnotic succession of text frames and saturated blue. Interestingly, Blue – for Kieslowski, alongside the trilogy Blanc and Rouge, both of 1994 – were the ultimate films of both filmmakers. Perhaps here lies something of confessional, sore, anxious and happy at the same time, in a state of awkward and beautiful condensation. This installation has encountered a starting point in this universe, situated between the visible and the invisible, reinventing it: A Kind of Blue.
