Provou que o cavalo corre com as quatro patas no ar. Inventou o zoopraxiscópio, instrumento com que deu movimento às imagens. Estudou os atletas, o que mais tarde inspirou Meyerhold na introdução da biomecânica no trabalho do ator. Eadweard Muybridge é um dos mais influentes fotógrafos ingleses do séc. XIX, cujo trabalho é sempre reconhecido, mas nunca a si associado.
Em Stop motion para Eadweard, espetáculo que cruza a linguagem do cinema com o teatro, a obra do artista é relembrada em simultâneo com notas da sua biografia. Um espetáculo para conhecer Eadweard que assassinou o amante da mulher. Eadweard que foi absolvido desse crime, considerado justo. Eadweard que abandonou o único filho. Mas também Eadweard que impulsionou a ciência em desenvolvimento na sua época e que, com tão poucos recursos, foi capaz de revolucionar o campo artístico da Imagem-Movimento.
A obsessão, a repetição, o inóspito, o caos e o congelamento do tempo e das ações, são alguns dos temas trabalhados por este ser obstinado e certo do seu caminho. Stop motion para Eadweard é uma homenagem ao cinema, à fotografia e à vontade inóspita de um homem provar a sua arte e o seu nome.

“STOP MOTION PARA EADWEARD”

He proved that the horse runs with all its four feet in the air. He invented the Zoopraxiscope, instrument that endowed images with motion. He studied athletes, which later inspired Meyerhold in the introduction of biomechanics to the actor’s work. Eadweard Muybridge is one of the most influential photographers of England in the 19th century. His work is always recognized, but never associated with him.
In Stop Motion para Eadweard, a show that crosses the language of cinema with the theater one, the artist’s work is recalled simultaneously with some of his biographical notes. A show that will introduce the Eadweard who murdered the lover of his wife. The Eadweard who was acquitted of that crime, considered a fair retribution. The Eadweard who abandoned his only child. But also the Eadweard that drove forward the developing science of his time and who, with few resources, was able to revolutionize the artistic field of Image-Movement.
The obsession, the repetition, the inhospitable, the chaos and the freezing of time and actions are some of the subjects treated by this stubborn and self-assured being. Stop Motion para Eadweard is a tribute to cinema, photography and the inhospitable will of a man to prove his art and his name.
