“UGLY”

Em Ugly quero compreender e explorar, radical e ironicamente, o medo da morte, a recusa do envelhecimento e da mortalidade assumindo como rosto dessas realidades o extremismo de algumas manipulações abusivas do corpo, que vão desde a autoimputação de mutações artificiais de carácter quase psicótico (traduzidas na obsessão pela cirurgia estética ou pela aberração hormonal), até às disfunções alimentares e a adição física e psicológica ao exercício.

Em Ugly os intérpretes são invólucros herméticos de carne e osso. Objetos humanos caricaturais. Brutais e cruéis, consigo e com os outros. Seres capazes de tudo para atingir a “perfeição”.

In Ugly I want to understand and explore radical and ironically, the fear of death, denial of aging and mortality assuming as face of such realities as the extremism of some tampering of the body, ranging from self-attribution of mutations artificial nature almost psychotic (translated into the obsession with cosmetic surgery or by hormonal aberration), up to eating disorders and physical addiction and psychological exercise.

In Ugly the performers are sealed envelopes in the flesh. Human objects like caricatures. Brutal and cruel, with themselves and others. Beings capable of anything to achieve “perfection.”
