Carla Zaccagnini propõe uma viagem pela história da música através das escolhas de Jan Johansson, um pianista sueco. A artista posiciona um gira-discos no topo do monte Nuolja, em Abisko, na Suécia, ouvindo-se o som que este emite enquanto se observam as cadeias montanhosas à ténue luz do “sol da meia-noite”.

Nástio Mosquito/Bofa da Cara. O artista aborda a representação dos africanos pelos colonizadores europeus durante o século XX, anotando os estereótipos, guerras, desastres e conquistas que caracterizam este continente em tal período.

Katarina Zdjelar foca o seu olhar sobre um conjunto de cidadãos italianos que visa a transformação da sua comunidade. A artista regista uma reunião na qual se delibera acerca da sua passagem de grupo informal a organização, chamando a atenção para a dimensão ética que tal resolução acarreta.

Rita Sobral Campos inspira-se no cinema mudo, em geral, e em relatos noticiosos de década de 1920, em particular, para ficcionar uma sociedade distópica. A artista apresenta o seu governante, Mr. Leader, um ser conflituoso que se lança numa cruzada contra a razão.

Cao Fei criou “RMB City” no “Second Life”, um universo virtual, e esta cidade constitui-se como uma plataforma experimental para atividades criativas. A artista desvenda a épica construção de RMB City num tom fantasista, próximo do sonho.

Nira Pereg documenta o enclausuramento temporário dos bairros judeus ultraortodoxos de Jerusalém em preparação para o Sabbath. A artista mostra a instalação de barreiras nas ruas pelos respetivos residentes, que assim delimitam diferentes zonas de um território já dividido por querelas religiosas.

Austin Shull e Chelsea Knight exploram a tensão emergente em estruturas de encarceramento, desde prisões a hospitais. Os artistas revelam ensaios de Ubu Roi, de Alfred Jarry, que encenaram num estabelecimento prisional, parodiando o poder atual através desta peça de teatro novecentista

Carla Zaccagnini, E Pur Si Muove, 2007, PAL, 4:3, colour, stereo, 68’
Carla Zaccagnini proposes a journey through the history of music by the choices of Jan Johansson, a Swedish pianist. The artist positions a turntable at the top of Mount Nuolja in Abisko, Sweden, listening to the sound it emits while observing the mountain chains by the dim light of the “midnight sun”.

Nástio Mosquito/Bofa da Cara. The artist approaches the Africans’ representation by the European colonizers during the XX century, noting the stereotypes, wars, disasters and conquests which characterize this continent in that period.

Katarina Zdjelar focuses on a group of Italian citizens who want to change their community. The artist captures a meeting during which the organization decides about its transition from an informal group, drawing attention to the ethical dimension that such a resolution entails.

Daniel Jewesbury portrays New Lodge Road, an area of Belfast where the Catholic population has Republican ideals. More than the people, it is the NLR’s atmosphere of the place which the artist captures, in a mixture of nostalgia and hope.

Rita Sobral Campos draws inspiration from the 1920’s silent films and news stories, in particular, to fiction a dystopian society. The artist presents her governor, Mr. Leader, a conflicted being who launches a crusade against logic.

Cao Fei created “RMB City” in “Second Life”, a virtual universe, and this city constitutes itself as an experimental platform for creative purposes. The artist unveils the epic construction of RMB City in a fanciful tone, close to the dream.

Nira Pereg portraits the temporary enclosure of the ultra-orthodox Jewish neighborhoods of Jerusalem in preparation for the Sabbath. The artist shows the barriers installation in the streets by their own residents, who thus delimit different zones of a territory already divided by religious quarrels.

Austin Shull and Chelsea Knight exploit the emerging tension in incarceration structures, from prisons to hospitals. The artists reveal the Alfred Jarry’s Ubu Roi essays, which they staged in a prison, parodying the current domain through this nineteenth-century play.
