Quid pro quo significa trocar uma coisa por outra. Neste vídeo um desenho é construído em tempo real sobre uma fotografia de família, fazendo-a desaparecer e transformar-se numa outra coisa, mostrando o processo de elaboração do mesmo, as suas hesitações, enganos e desenvolvimentos.

O corpo como máquina orgânica guardadora de ar, que é, absorve, e expele a paisagem, é desafiado pela alavanca da atualidade. Numa dança entre o corpo e o objeto, o centro agita-se na ambivalência do controlado ou controlador.

O vídeo apresenta o autor que se senta perante um espelho. As imagens aproximam-se uma da outra e quando uma delas chega à fronteira que divide os dois mundos dá-se uma explosão de serpentinas que atinge apenas uma das imagens.
O enquadramento é escolhido de modo a que as dimensões do reflexo sejam as mesmas do que está a ser refletido. O autor e o seu reflexo/imagem interagem.

Num futuro próximo, Portugal vive um conturbado período de tensão social e guerrilha. Desconhecedor do cessar-fogo recém-acordado, um jovem guerrilheiro procura sobreviver na mata, transportando consigo o corpo de uma companheira moribunda. Isolado por falta de meios de comunicação, mantém-se permanentemente alerta aos passos de um inimigo já inexistente.

A montagem de uma manifestação de Sírios em Atenas, em solidariedade com os seus compatriotas, misturada com vídeos anónimos encontrados na net, em que, para além da violência, se questiona também a veracidade das imagens e a quem serve a sua exibição e manipulação. Numa manifestação aparentemente alegre e pacífica há sinais de uma agressividade latente.
A luta de um povo pela sua liberdade, apesar da mortandade, da repressão e da humilhação a que esse mesmo povo tem estado sujeito há mais de um ano, versus a violência da realidade, construída sobre o contraste violento das imagens. A tensão e o sofrimento da tortura, enfatizados pela tortura da espera pelo aparecimento de uma sequência terrível de imagens anónimas carregadas de outras leituras pela sobreposição do texto da manifestação. A impossibilidade dolorosa da indiferença contra a indiferença ao sofrimento. Mais do que tomar partido, a necessidade de questionar as razões desta barbárie.

Quid pro quo implies a trade of one thing for another. In this video, a drawing is made in real time on a family photograph, making it disappear and transform into something else, showing the process of its elaboration, hesitations, mistakes and developments.

The body as an organic air-keeping machine that is, absorbs and expels the landscape, it is constantly challenged by the present. In a dance between body and object, the center is shaken by the ambivalence of the controlled or controller.

This video features the author sitting before a mirror. Images approach each other and when one of them reaches the border dividing the two worlds, there is an explosion of serpentines reaching only one of the images.
The framing is chosen so that the dimensions of the reflection are the same as the reflected. The author and his reflection/image interact.

Unaware of the newly ceasefire, a young fighter tries to survive in the woods, while carrying the body of a dying companion. Isolated by the lack of a communication system, he remains vigilant at all times, fearing an already non-existent enemy.

The editing of a Syrians’ riot in Athens, in solidarity with its compatriots, mixed with anonymous videos found on the internet, in which, in addition to the violence, the truthfulness of the images is also questioned and for whom are their exhibition and manipulation. In a seemingly cheerful and peaceful riot there are signs of latent aggression.
The struggle of a nation for its freedom, in spite of mortality, repression and humiliation to which its people have been subjected for more than a year, versus the violence of reality, built on the violent contrast of the images. The torture’s tension and suffering, emphasized by the torture of waiting for the appearance of a terrible sequence of anonymous images charged with other meanings, by the overlapping text of the riot. The painful impossibility of indifference against the indifference to suffering. More than taking sides, there is the need to question this barbarism.
