Pedro Barateiro (Almada, 1979) vive e trabalha em Lisboa. Exposições individuais na REDCAT, Museu Colecção Berardo, Kettle’s Yard, Parkour, Kunsthalle Lissabon, Kunsthalle Basel, Casa de Serralves – Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Serralves, MARCO – Museo de Arte Contemporánea de Vigo, Pavilhão Branco – Museu da Cidade, Spike Island e Salão Olímpico entre outras. Participou em exposições colectivas no MHKA, SESC Pompéia, Crac Alsace, Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, ar/ge Kunst, Le Plateaux – Frac Île-de-France, Palais de Tokyo, 29ª Bienal de São Paulo, 16ª Bienal de Sidney, 5ª Bienal de Berlim.
As suas performances foram apresentadas no Teatro Nacional D. Maria II, Teatro São Luiz e Teatro Praga (Lisboa), Centre Pompidou (Paris), 98Weeks (Beirute), ZHdK (Zurique), Teatro Rivoli (Porto), Théâtre de la Ville, L’école nationale supérieure des beaux-arts—ENSBA e Fondation Ricard (Paris), SESC Pompéia, Centro Cultural São Paulo e na Galeria Vermelho (São Paulo), entre outros.
Entre as suas colaborações editou, com Ricardo Valentim, os livros Temporary Collaborations e ACTIVITY (JRP|Ringier). A monografia How to Make a Mask foi publicada pela Kunsthalle Lissabon e Sternberg Press.
A Viagem Invertida (Espelho), 15’ aprox, 2019, instalação de dois canais de vídeo HD, cor, som
A Viagem Invertida (Espelho) é uma obra que reflecte sobre a relação de intimidade com os dispositivos móveis e a tecnologia. A obra parte de uma investigação sobre a extracção de lítio em Portugal. O uso deste metal alcalino é parte de muitas indústrias, com grande presença na produção de baterias para carros, smartphones e outros dispositivos. É também um elemento químico utilizado no tratamento de algumas perturbações psicológicas como a bipolaridade. A Viagem Invertida é um comentário à condição contemporânea dos indivíduos e à sua falta de presença na sociedade.

Pedro Barateiro (Almada, 1979) lives and works in Lisbon. Solo exhibitions at REDCAT, Berardo Collection Museum, Kettle’s Yard, Parkour, Kunsthalle Lissabon, Kunsthalle Basel, Casa de Serralves – Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art, MARCO – Vigo Museum of Contemporary Art, Pavilhão Branco – Museu da Cidade, Spike Island and Salão Olímpico, among others. The Inverted Journey (Mirror), 15’ approx, 2019, two-channel video installation, HD, colour, sound
The Inverted Journey (Mirror) is a video work that reflects our intimate relationship with our mobile devices and technology. The work is based on an investigation of lithium extraction in northern Portugal. The use of this alkali metal can be found in many industries today, with a large presence on the production of batteries of cars, smartphones and other devices. It is also a chemical used in the treatment of a few psychological conditions such as bipolar disorder. The Inverted Journey (Mirror) is a comment on the contemporary condition of individuals and their growing lack of presence in society.
