Assumindo novamente a curadoria dos vídeos, que se apresentam a um ritmo de um por dia nos ecrãs do Canal Lisboa durante os sete dias do Festival FUSO, o Ar.Co – Centro de Arte e Comunicação Visual apresenta uma selecção de trabalhos realizados pelos alunos do Curso de Cinema/Imagem em Movimento, que responderam ao mote lançado este ano de pensar o conceito de sustentabilidade.
Nestes breves instantes videográficos exibidos nos dezoito ecrãs espalhados pela cidade de Lisboa, a sustentabilidade é apresentada enquanto um equilíbrio instável. Na física clássica, este último conceito define o afastamento progressivo do objeto relativamente à sua posição de equilíbrio. Nestes vídeos, os objetos e o corpo experimentam esses limites de suspensão no espaço e no tempo, em que por vezes o potencial perigo da queda é amparado por novas dimensões gravíticas.

BIO
Laura Gonçalo é actriz, nascida nos anos 90 em Paris. Juntou à sua experiência em teatro (ESAD.CR): a dança, a performance, a escrita (Massa Com Atum, Chiado Editora) e mais recentemente o cinema (Ar.Co).

Sustentabilidade é encontrar um equilíbrio entre dar e receber. Pode ser tão simples como arrancar uma árvore e plantar uma nova no seu lugar. Não é um bicho de sete cabeças. Embora o assunto seja amplo, acredito que os assuntos mais importantes na vida não precisam ser complicados, mas podem e devem ser fáceis de entender.
BIO
Stephanie Kyek cresceu na Suíça, onde a sua vida estava muito focada na música. Depois de um ano emocionalmente difícil, decidiu afastar-se dos estudos e viajar, na esperança de encontrar uma nova inspiração. Voltou a Lisboa, local de nascimento da mãe, e foi aceite no curso de cinema do Ar.Co. Dedicou-se a explorar as relações entre o som e a imagem, incorporando o seu amor pela música à videoarte.

Margarida Albino (1998). Começou os seus estudos artísticos na Escola Artística António Arroio. Desde aí tem frequentado cursos tanto teóricos como práticos nas áreas da fotografia, do cinema e do som. Atualmente frequenta o 3º ano do Curso de Cinema/Imagem em Movimento do Ar.Co.

Narciso oferece a Dolly uma fonte de água. Conta gotas de um reflexo. Rosto aguado, replicado. Nascem narcisos no lago! Morrem narcisos no lago! Jardim efémero. Segredo de quem lá viveu. Viu. Se. Jardim Secreto da Dolly.

Ana Vala (1992, Peniche). Estudou Design Industrial e Design de Produto na ESAD.CR (2011-2017). Durante esse percurso sentiu a necessidade de fundir no mesmo processo de trabalho referências e metodologias de diferentes disciplinas: Design, Cinema, Antropologia. Desde então, produz e realiza vídeos de maneira independente e autodidata. Neste momento é aluna do curso Cinema/Imagem em Movimento do Ar.Co.

During that journey, she felt the need to merge references and methodologies from different disciplines: Design, Cinema, Anthropology, with her work process. Since then, she has been producing and directing videos independently and is self-taught. At the moment, she is a student in the Cinema/Moving Image Course at Ar.Co.

BIO
Pedro Antunes (1995, Lisboa). Licenciou-se em Som e Imagem pela Escola Superior de Artes e Design das Caldas da Rainha. Em 2017, frequentou o curso de Cinema/Imagem em Movimento do Ar.Co. Desde então, trabalha em produção e imagem para publicidade, instituições e artes visuais. Actualmente, faz assistência de produção na produtora de cinema Uma Pedra no Sapato e é bolseiro do Curso Avançado de Artes Plásticas do Ar.Co.

Entrega do PRÉMIO AQUISIÇÃO FUSO|FUNDAÇÃO EDP/MAAT, para a melhor obra eleita pelo júri presidido por Margarida Chantre (Fundação EDP/MAAT), acompanhado por Antoni Muntadas, Irit Batsry (artista visual), Isabel Nogueira (curadora, investigadora e professora universitária) e Luciano Scherer & Maíra Flores (vencedores do OPEN CALL FUSO 2018).

Vídeo arte no Canal Lisboa
O FUSO expande as suas fronteiras para além dos já tradicionais jardins e claustros dos museus de Lisboa. Numa parceria com o Turismo de Lisboa e a Ar.Co – Escola de Arte e Comunicação Visual, o FUSO cria novas oportunidades para jovens artistas mostrarem suas criações a um público alargado. Durante a semana do festival serão exibidas obras em vídeo criadas pelos alunos do curso de Cinema/Imagem em Movimento do Ar.Co, a um ritmo de um por dia, nos ecrãs do Canal Lisboa.

UNSTABLE EQUILIBRIUM

Once again taking over the curation of the videos which will be presented, at a pace of one per day, on the screens of Canal Lisboa, during the seven days of the FUSO Festival, Ar.Co – School of Arts and Visual Communication presents a selection of work directed by the students from the Cinema/Moving Image Course, which responded to the theme launched this year, contemplating the concept of sustainability.
During these brief videographic instants, which will be exhibited on the eighteen screens spread throughout the city of Lisbon, sustainability is presented as an unstable equilibrium. In classical physics, this latter concept defines the progressive distancing of the object relative to its position of equilibrium. In these videos, the objects and the body experiment with these limits of suspension in space and time, in which, at times, the potential danger of the fall is bolstered by new gravitational dimensions.

Laura Gonçalo is an actress, born in the 90s in Paris. To her experience in theatre (ESAD.CR), she has added: dance, performance, writing (Massa Com Atum, Chiado Editora) and, most recently, cinema (Ar.Co).

Sustainability is finding a balance between giving and receiving. It can be as simple as uprooting a tree and planting one in its place. It is not rocket science. Even though the subject is broad, I believe that the most important subjects in life need not be complicated, but can and should be easy to understand.

Stephanie Kyek grew up in Switzerland, where her life was very focused on music. After an emotionally difficult year, she decided to distance herself from her studies and travel, in the hopes of finding new inspiration. She returned to Lisbon, where her mother was born, and was accepted into the cinema course at Ar.Co. She dedicated herself to exploring the relationships between sound and image, incorporating her love for music into video art.

Margarida Albino (1998) began her artistic studies at the António Arroio Artistic School. Since then, she has taken both theoretical and practical courses in photography, cinema and sound. Currently, she is in the 3 rd year of the Cinema/Moving Image Course at Ar.Co.

Pedro Antunes (1995, Lisbon). Has a Bachelor Degree in Sound and Image from the Escola Superior de Artes e Design das Caldas da Rainha (Upper School of Arts and Design of Caldas da Rainha). In 2017, he attended the Cinema/Moving Image Course at Ar.Co. Since then, he has worked in production and image for advertising, institutions and the visual arts. Currently, he is a production assistant at the film production company Uma Pedra no Sapato and is a grant recipient from the Advanced Fine Arts Course at Ar.Co.

Delivery of FUSO|EDP FOUNDATION/MAAT ACQUISITION AWARD, for the best work chosen by a jury chaired by Margarida Chantre (EDP Foundation/MAAT), accompanied by Antoni Muntadas, Irit Batsry (visual artist), Isabel Nogueira (curator, researcher and university professor) and Luciano Scherer & Maíra Flores (winners of FUSO 2018’s OPEN CALL).
The public was invited to vote and their opinion is expressed with the delivery of the FUSO|RESTART INCENTIVE AWARD.

Videoart in the Lisbon Channel
FUSO expands its borders beyond the already traditional gardens and cloisters of the museums of Lisbon. In partnership with Turismo de Lisboa and Ar.Co – School of Arts and Visual Communication, FUSO creates new opportunities for young artists to show their works to a wider audience. During the week of the festival, video works created by the students of the course Cinema / Image in Motion of Ar.Co will be exhibited at a rate of one per day, in the screens of the Lisbon Channel.
