Representante da linha de programação competitiva do Temps d’Images Lisboa, e parte integrante da efetiva diversidade de olhares proporcionada por este festival de artes visuais e performativas, o Loops.Lisboa apresenta este ano três abordagens completamente distintas para a infinitude de significados que rodeiam o loop.
Será este uma filosofia? Uma crença? Um fluxo interior/exterior, composto por peças singulares/múltiplas? Ou simplesmente uma ferramenta de linguagem?
As três propostas selecionadas, de entre as 236 submissões enviadas por artistas portugueses ou residentes em Portugal, apresentam caminhos singulares – porém unificados por um fio invisível, que percorre os caminhos de cada obra. “The Falls”, de Nuno Cera, sugere uma interpretação da paisagem para estabelecer um loop interior; “2017 personaloop_01”, de Tomaz Hipólito, traz uma performance encenada e editada para recriar a formalidade do loop em espaço real e virtual; e “Delphine Aprisionada”, de Ricardo Pinto de Magalhães, monta um video-essay tridimensional, enquanto distribuído por camadas de interpretação e de narrativas literalmente simultâneas.
Os protagonistas, ou os objetos a serviço das obras interseccionadas por esta ideia invisível, são também distintos. Podem eles ser a natureza monolítica e a sua relação com a forma; o artista a interpretar a si próprio, e a recortar-se dentro do loop que criou para si; e a emblemática atriz (e antecessora nas questões de género e seus papéis) Delphine Seyrig, paradoxalmente a lutar contra um aprisionamento.
Os trabalhos expostos no Museu Nacional de Arte Contemporânea – Museu do Chiado (MNAC) foram selecionados por um júri composto por Irit Batsry, Alisson Avila e António Câmara Manuel. O prémio de 2.000€ do Loops.Lisboa será anunciado em Janeiro pelo júri de premiação constituído por Emília Tavares, Conservadora e Curadora para a área da Fotografia e Novos Media no MNAC; Jesse James, Diretor do Festival Walk&Talk Açores e Jorge La Ferla, Curador e Professor da Universidade de Buenos Aires.

Being representative of the Temps d’Images’ programming, and as part of the effective diversity of views provided by this visual and performing arts festival, Loops.Lisboa presents this year three completely different approaches to the infinite meanings that surround the loop.
Is this a philosophy? A belief? An inner or outer flow, composed by a single or multiple parts? Or simply a language tool?
The three selected proposals, among the 236 submissions sent by Portuguese artists or living in Portugal, present singular paths – but unified by an invisible thread, which runs along the paths of each work. “The Falls” by Nuno Cera, suggests an interpretation of the landscape to establish an inner loop; “2017 personaloop_01” by Tomaz Hipólito brings a staged and edited performance to recreate the loop’s formality in a real and virtual space; and “Delphine Aprisionada” by Ricardo Pinto de Magalhães creates a three-dimensional video-essay, while distributed by layers of interpretation and literally simultaneous narratives.
The protagonists, or the objects at service of the works intersected by this invisible idea, are also different. They can be the monolithic nature and its relation to form; the artist to interpret himself, and to cut himself into the loop he created for him; and the iconic actress (and predecessor on gender issues and their roles), Delphine Seyrig, paradoxically struggling against imprisonment.
The works exhibited at the National Museum of Contemporary Art – Chiado Museum (MNAC) were selected by the jury Irit Batsry, Alisson Avila and António Câmara Manuel. The award by Loops.Lisboa with the amount of 2,000 euros will be announced in January selected by Emília Tavares, Curator for the area of Photography and New Media at MNAC; Jesse James, Director of the Azores’ Walk&Talk Festival and Jorge La Ferla, Curator and Professor at the University of Buenos Aires.
