“IN-AFFRESCO”

Coletivo ZUR

“The chance of the meetings brings wealth and depth to the work of the ZUR Group and a way of recognizing a collective memory through the image. The ZUR Group does not expose an aesthetic but prepares an area where the sensitive becomes visible. “

ZUR Collective

The ZUR Collective ends its project in Lisbon, presenting the final part of its research, which was carried out between 2005 and 2006, in Torres Vedras, Viseu and Montemor-o-Velho. The project consists of the development of three “En-Chantillon” – (“immediate research acts…”) and an “In Affresco” (“reflected research act…”). These are multidisciplinary spectacles, in which particular ways of experiencing space and housing are developed. This course is part of the European project MIRA, which is developed in three European countries: Portugal, Spain and France.

In the Cultural Center of Belém, in the context of the Temps d’Images Festival, “In-Affresco” is presented, a great show involving 20 people, in the Grand Auditorium, which reflects the research of the ZUR Collective in Portugal. It is a transdisciplinary work in which image, music, dance and theater are reconfigured to reveal “frescoes”, fragments that are fixed and therefore they give the possibility of experiencing how the image can relate to all the other arts in a unique way, and which is one of the objectives of the Temps d’Images festival.

The ZUR Collective is born from the encounter between artists of different origins and artistic formations, in 1984. Its action is simple and is based on the contamination between genres and artistic languages. Without specialization, the ZUR Collective works in the intersection between the paths of painting and cinema, sculpture and theater, elaborating installations, shows, scenography or street interventions. The spectator is immersed in a dream-like climate, generated by a handcrafted device, which mixes sophisticated mechanisms and twists, actions and contemplations, creating a relationship of curious intimacy and the impression of a privileged exchange.

The objective of this artistic residence is the encounter with the Portuguese culture based on the company’s particular poetics, giving rise to a truly Portuguese project, in which the structures that receive the work of creation are at the same time intervening in this work and heirs of its strong lines. This is the way to create a deep connection between the Portuguese cultural, social and artistic fabric with the French project, creating new possibilities for both. On the other hand, the ZUR Portugal project ensures the continuity and completion that promise to make it a strong moment of reflection on contemporary creation.
