“EL CASO DEL ESPECTADOR”

Com este trabalho pretendo analisar o ponto de vista do espectador e o poder que a representação, a ficção e o virtuosismo têm sobre os nossos mecanismos de perceção.
Graças à dissociação do meu corpo posso apresentar ações e imagens duplas, que me permitem propor, em direto, dois tempos narrativos simultâneos: o cénico e o cinematográfico.
Estes dois tempos narrativos vão-se entrelaçando cada vez mais, como acontece com as bonecas russas. Fragmentação do corpo, multiplicidade de personagens e duplas ações.
O dispositivo criado é um buraco negro, um nó cego, um tempo morto que me permite jogar com o que o espectador vê e não vê.

“El Caso del Espectador” (The Audience Case) María Jerez reflects on how representation, fiction and virtuosity can affect the perception of the spectator, audience.
Does the woman sitting in the television chair reading a murder mystery with her back to the audience cause the terrifying scenes that can be seen, apparently projected live on the monitor on which she is watching television? Is it good old television or the feedback loop of a video performance? You don’t quite know. Untiringly she builds a TV landscape out of everyday objects and zaps back and forth between real time and recording. Cruel games with Barbie dolls and cars force their way into the stage living room.
María Jerez lives and works in Madrid. She studied theatre, dance and visual arts in Spain and France. As a performer she has worked with Jérôme Bel, La Ribot, Gary Stevens, Juan Dominguez and Cuqui Jerez. She assisted Sharon Feder on «Testing (The memory of a nation)», Paris-Vancouver, 2001-2002.
“El Caso del Espectador” is her first authorship piece.
